How to Properly Use Proactiv Acne Solution
When you receive your order of Proactiv, you will probably tear it open like a kid at Christmas. After examining the products, you’ll need to read the instructions in order to begin your new therapy, dreaming of a popular social life and feeling like Jessica Simpson.
In the stock three product kit, you’ll receive Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner, and Repairing Lotion – pretty impressive. The first step, the Renewing Cleanser, is a
combination of finely macerated apricot pits and a solution containing benzoyl peroxide as an active ingredient. It’s simply applied with a cotton ball in circular motions on the effected area. The apricots act to exfoliate dead skin cells and unplug infected pores to allow penetration of the benzoyl peroxide. The benzoyl peroxide then goes to work attacking the bacterium that has developed within the swollen follicle.
Step two, the Revitalizing Toner is next in line to help combat your horrific pimple pizza. Proactiv states that this is a refreshing, alcohol free substance to remove dead skin cells that would otherwise reclog your freshly exposed hair follicle openings. It is also said to remove excess oils leaving your skin looking and feeling radiantly new.

The Repairing Lotion then follows to finish the basic Proactiv system. Its active ingredient, like the 
Renewing Cleanser, is a 2.5 percent solution of benzoyl peroxide. It acts to deeply penetrate the follicles and attack developing bacterium at their source before they ever have the first chance to cause infection, i.e. zits. Created with soothing botanicals including allantoin, panthenol, aloe, and chamomile, it’s said to leave the skin feeling healthy and hydrated.
Of the reviews from Proactiv consumers that do not recommend the product, the most common complaint seems to be dry, flakey, itchy, red, and/or swollen skin. Conveniently, Proactiv offers a supplemental product called Oil Free Moisture with SPF15. Rather or not the Proactiv brand sunscreen is purchased, it is still recommended for all Proactiv users who may at any point encounter sun rays. The newly exposed, radiant skin is very susceptible to burning and chaffing.
On the other end of the spectrum are those that exhibit shining, oily skin. Proactiv again offers a supplemental solution called “Daily Oil Control”. It aids in keeping pores unclogged, keeping makeup streak-free, and your skin from shining. If this all wasn’t enough to win your battle with zits, a sulfur-based mask is recommended for use 2 or 3 times weekly in addition to the other steps. Each of the three products in the Proactiv stock kit is to be applied twice every day, morning and evening, to maximize benefit.

yea it halfway works for me. i do everything the stupid bottles say and it my skin just gets flaky,red, and dry. And you’ll be like “Bla bla bla buy are moisturizer bla bla bla and if that doesnt work buy our other moisturizer”. Well i rather not put 1000 things on my face every day so why dont you make an all in one product that works instead of making us buy more crap so you guys can make more money

It worked wonders for me after only 3 weeks. My face was 98% clear. It does not do much for post-acne marks however.

im really disapionted i bought the product to even out and moistureise my skin but all it did was make it dry and blochy .and it made my nose SCARE ! now my nose has this hard scab on all the time ! it sucks

I am new to proactive,but from what I researched it will work for some people and for others it wont.They have different types of skin so it wont work on everyone…Your skin might need something stronger and then again it might need something weaker.My face,ever since I have been using proactive,has been 98% clear and I am really happy with my results…I have had a couple of bumps pop up but I pop them and immediately use proactive and they go away in like 5 minutes,but I use proactive differently then others.Instead of applying the Renewing Cleanser directly to my face,I damp a towel in warm water to weaken it a little bit and then rub my face really good,then I use a dry side of the towel to put the Revitalizing Toner,scrub my face with that,and then I put the lotion on with my finger tips.I use proactive once when I wake up,then once before I go to sleep. For people that don’t like using proactive or aren’t happy with their results I would suggest Noxzema triple clean anti-blemish pads,they are also really great for your face….they come in a little blue container with a orange top and they are like 3 or 4 dollars a bottle.I use them every other day on my face…so my face stays really clean all the time.Anymore advice go to my myspace at http://www.myspace.com/sexyisassexdoes thanks lauren

Well you know .This product have worked for me . I had it once and within a few days it was cleared. but my friend had gave it to me and there was much in it. just on friday i purchased the set of three and since friday its now sunday and theres already a good difference in my skin ;; most of the acne cleared , and my skin always feel smoother and softer for almost the whole day . && all these ppl come on to this site and down. the product and like “lauren” said for some ppl it works and for some it doesn’t so everyone should stop downing the product . Beacause its not the product that doesnt work ;; its YOUR FACE . And apperently you all need to bring yourself to the drug store and get a prescription for your acne , because apperently Proactiv isn’t strong enough for your skin.

&& Also the refining mask works really good ;; i put it on the first day i got the product and the next day the pimple wasn’t swollen and I could touch it and there would be no pain. It drained after one night.

This will be my first time using proactive. My kit bearly arrived today in the mail. =D
Im pretty scared using proactive; after what I’ve read.
I REALLY DONT want my face to look ashy n red…
I got a couple of zits on my chin, forhead, and cheeks the thing is I dont want my face to look worse than what it does.
I’ve tried practecly everything and it dosent work for me. My face just wont clear up!
I also joined Herbelife to clean my system and to lose weight. It’s a healthy program. In a week I lost 4 lbs. WOW!!
Ima use proactive and herbelife together and see what kind of results I get.

It worked very well in the begining but now its just okay. I suggest you try it because not all results are the same and this just might be your perfect product.

It’s true, proactive may or may not work on some people, but it all depends.
I’ve used proactive before and it worked miracles on my skin. My friend began using it too, and found that it didn’t do much to her skin when she used the three step system. However, she found her skin started getting better just using the cleanser. Her skin is just a good as mine is now. (I have combo skin she has oily skin).
The only downside to Proactive is that if it works for you, YOU CAN’T STOP USING IT!
Your skin becomes dependent on it and once you stop, your face goes back to how it was, or perhaps even worse. I decided to stop using it about 6 months ago and my face has become horrible. I’ve had to return to using it and it’s only been 3 days and I’m already seeing a slight change. So basically, if it works, don’t mess with it.

I barley get my kit today and im a bit afraid to use this?? i dont have a lot of acne but still my skin in pretty light and any little red spot looks really big!!!
im sure hoping it works for me and for anyone else! try that burts bees all natural tree extract acne control rub on bottle it dries up your pimples pretty quickly and it burns yet again they go away… thats my opinion i got it at walmart if anyones interested!

I think it works well so far. My skin feels very even now and for that I am happy. Breaks outs seem to be less, and this is only my third day of use. For those it has not worked for, everyones skin is diff, just as meds do not work the same for everyone aswell. Good luck! Thanks;-)

dog poop is the only way to go i use it all the time i put it in the micro wave and make it warm again and damp a little in my face at night before i go to sleep and it makes all the red of my face go away in the morning

proactiv does not work. clearasil tinted works best cuz it covers the redness and reduces pimple size when im in school. just dab a bit on the zit and its not as noticeable within a couple hours. PROACTIV DOES NOT WORK AT ALL!!!!

Proactiv is a really good product to use. I used it for about a year and my face improved. I was so satisfied with the results that I stopped using proactiv. Recently I decided to pick it up again because I was breaking out again (im a teen). After applying it the night before, I had woken up to a red, hot, itchy, puffy face. I was like this the whole day. Turns out I had an allergic reaction to benzoyl peroxide, which is an ingredient used in proactiv.. and many other acne cleansers.-__-
Bottom line is: Proactiv is a great product that should be deff. tried if you want to get a clearer face but there are people who are sensitive to benzoyl peroxide.. who become upset and write negative reviews of the product..

be patient w/the product! you will most likely start breaking out after using ANY line for a week or so. n if it stays bad for a month then i guess stop?
but remember, you gotta use it like ur taking prescription medication orally, everyday @ the same time.

i just received my proactiv in the mail today, and lets just say, i’m very excited! because my face is horrible at the moment, and it’s so embarrassing to go to work or shows and everyone see these pimples on my face. after reading the first couple of comments i got REALLY scared, and then i came across “Lauren” & “kno” & smiled. i really hope proactiv works for me, because i would love to have a clear face, i don’t want to cake on my make up anymore! so0o wish me luck!

I have been using proactiv for a little over a month .. here is my story so far…
I found that proactiv really caused redness in my face — especially when drinking or exercising — my face gets really hot as well.
Beside redness, the biggest problem i found is that my face gets really oily — more so than usual .. so i will have to check this oil absorbing product they claim works.
Also the toner … ughh.. how can they claim it to be soothing and cooling.. that crap BURNS! Its the crux of the whole system .. I dread having to put it on … as soon as it starts drying, my face starts itching and burning until its completely dry… then i apply the lotion and it soothes my face … after about 30 mins to an hour my face is extremely oily… which i use oil blotting pads for.
As far as results, It has slightly reduced my acne but not as much as i had hoped so far. However, no BIG ones come in anymore though, so thats nice… But, I still have my trouble areas .. the sulfur mask doesnt really do anything except dry my face out.
All in all … i am going to give this product another month .. if i dont get the results i want or if the side effects dont subside then … proactiv, meet garbage … garbage, meet proactiv.

ive been usingg proactiv for a few months now, and i notice and huge difference. my skin goes all clear but everytime i use it my face goes really dry and i begin to peel? I think everyone should try it, because everyones skin type isnt the same.

I started using Proactiv a little less than a week ago, and at first I loved it. My acne stopped, and the already exsisting acne began to dissapear, but then I noticed a burning, itching feeling whenever I put on my make up. I use bareminerals and I have been using it for more than a year now and I had never had a problem with it.
Well this burning was really bugging me, but I continued to use Proactiv, then I noticed the skin around my mouth was getting extremely dry. I tried using my dead sea salt scrub to clean it up and remove the peeling skin but my face felt like it was on fire. I had never felt that before, and i had been using the dead sea salt scrub sinse November.
I then tried my expholiating scrub that is extremely gentle, and it didn’t burn as much, but it didn’t help the dry peeling skin around my mouth.
I decided that I needed to calm my skin down, so I put on my mud mask, which I have been using the same mud mask company for more than two years now and it has always calmed my irritated skin and soothed it.
As soon as I put it on, my face began to burn like crazy, I couldn’t beleive it, but I realized this all started after I started using Proactiv.
I am now going to the dermitologist in two days, I am done using Proactiv, I will never use the product again.
I am going back to using Sedifil.
All and all I am very disapointed in Proactiv.

I have been using proactive for a few months now and every time I stop using it my face gets worse than it was before and it really dries out my nose. I will not spend anymore money on this crap it is not worth it. I really like the biore wariming facial wash a lot and it works well too.
