Although not all acne cream treatment works, these creams are best used for acne breakouts that are mild and dependent upon the response of the user’s skin. However, acne cream treatment can also be used to treat severe acne. There a number of prescribed acne creams and over the counter ones that a person with acne can choose from. It is best though that the person studies first what the creams are made up of and how they work before purchasing one.

Over the Counter Acne Creams

Most of the acne cream treatments have benzoyl peroxide as their main component. Examples of popular treatments are: Oxy and Clearasil. It is recommended to use these in small amounts (just like creams with alcohol as their main ingredient) because too high concentration levels of benozyl peroxide would only make things worse because it can make the skin flaky and dry.

If you have a serious acne condition, a prescription acne cream treatment that is more powerful may be the solution. Examples are: Differin (containing adalapene), and Retin A (containing tretinoin), that make skin wrinkle and line free but these have side effects such as scaling, skin burning and sensitivity to the sun as well as dryness.

Natural Acne Treatment

There are also natural treatments developed to help cure one’s acne. Natural supplements containing a lot of minerals and vitamins can be taken orally to improve the condition of the skin. They are to be drunk twice a day and they actually work to detoxify the impurities of the body/skin.

Acne may be hard to cure, but never lose hope as there are a lot of options out there that a person can try. Before buying over the counter acne cream treatments, the advice of a skin expert or dermatologist should be sought first.
